Yearning - The Resurgence Of The Flowers
Art is transformation, hope, and resistance! Don’t miss this opportunity to support the migrant LGBTQ+ struggle in Phoenix.
This event is a cultural celebration and fundraiser to support the work of the organization Trans Queer Pueblo. We use art to convey messages of resistance, mobilize our membership, and spark the interest of newcomers.
It is a night of art, culture, and Queerness.
The stars of the evening will be Las DesmadrOSAS—Trans Queer Pueblo’s theater troupe. They are migrant, *mestiza*, Indigenous, and undocumented women who create theater to raise their voices, heal their bodies and minds, and forge bonds of unity—all to put an end to gender-based violence.
Come witness *Postales de Lucha* (Postcards of Struggle)—stories and experiences based on the lives, wounds, and dreams of Las DesmadrOSAS, a group of migrant, Indigenous, activist mothers and performers.
In addition, performances by other local artists who explore the themes of longing and rebirth. Stories of how pain changes us and how, through this pain, we can emerge with new tools to excel and succeed—just as flowers must die at the end of a cycle to bloom again in the spring. Painful experiences nourish our lives and give us the strength to carry on.
